Posters

#1,2,3: Since ther characters are known to fly or swim, I decided to have Totoro and the dragon kid in spirited away fly over their landscapes, while ponyo's is swimming over hers. Majority of the poster is the landscape.

#4,5,6: Key objects from each movies floating in the air. Underwater in ponyo's case.

#7,8,9: Have special texts speak for the movie itself.

  1. im liking the 2nd set with the footprints, very creative. id like to see how you will incorporate color into these posters. i dont understand the bottom set, are you going to be working with type as your main element?

  2. I agree, the second row might be the best of the three ideas. Since, the films are already illustrated and animated, I think it would be to obvious to just include existing artwork or if you illustrated it yourself it might look too similar (the 1st column looks like you have imagery from the film). However, there might really be no way around having your posters look very similar to existing artwork for these films.

  3. The first set is interesting because it tells a story through its use of landscape. It'll also give the audience a sense of culture through the style of animation and story telling. Using key objects is always a great idea. It's simple, straight to the point. I would like to see what you can do with the type. Type is expressive enough as long as you are able to capture the stories over alll look.
