I went to SAGA's Annual Panel Discussion meeting, and I have to say, it was very informative and inspiring. Not only are they graphic designers, but allso entrepeneurs for products they designed themselves. My favorite discussion was with Miguel, he started out small and climbed up, even during recession. He designed kids chairs and dogs accessories for disney. He made sure to tells us how important getting interships, suggesting Loungefly, and picked up great tips from his experiences:
1) "Your only as good as your last project."
2) "Work smart, work hard."
3) "You can't succeed unless you fail. You must fail in order to succeed, so fail fast."
4) "Maintain a state of inspiration."
His upcoming product was also awesome, cute disney chairs for you iPhone.
Aaron, who is the senior graphic designer, also was very informative. He showed us a lot for of his own work, especially for sports. Mostly his presentation was about his experiences than giving some wisdom like Miguel. He also gave a away three Mugos, which unfortunately I didn't get.
We didn't get to Nir, somehow.

Posters
#1,2,3: Since ther characters are known to fly or swim, I decided to have Totoro and the dragon kid in spirited away fly over their landscapes, while ponyo's is swimming over hers. Majority of the poster is the landscape.
#4,5,6: Key objects from each movies floating in the air. Underwater in ponyo's case.
#7,8,9: Have special texts speak for the movie itself.

Film Festival Theme
My film festival will be based on Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. The reason is because I grew up with his films and how I developed a love for his style in his movies. My first movie from him was My Neighbor Totoro which is one of the most famous characters in Japan (As how Mickey Mouse is in America) and is the logo of his studio, Studio Ghibli. He is considered one of the greatest animation directors of all time as his 2001 film Spirited away was ranked as #10 of Empire Magazine's 100 best films of all time.
What is great about his work is, for one, the art. He has combined different elements and styles in his many movies. They often consisted combining 3d with 2d and made them work well together like how he did in Spirited Away. In his last movie, Ponyo, though the movie was very kid oriented the art style was different and compared most to watercolor than how his anime movies typically are. Second is the stories. The characters are very orginal, ranging from fuzzy monsters and oddly proportioned people.

The last color kinda looked puke green, so I chose a darker green because that is the color if the vegggie is fresh.
